What's a launch without a launch party? To mark the occasion of The Career Girl going live we celebrated with a party at the Village Haberdashery in north London. Cheese was bought, cakes were made, and all the leftover bubbly from my wedding was hauled out of storage! Among the guests were a few of the ladies featured on the site, as well as some of our crowdfunders and supporters old and new. It was a wonder anyone at all turned up given the disgusting weather that hit London that evening, but I'm so grateful to everyone who did brave the storm to come out and make it a night to remember!
I had the assistance of a couple of other boss ladies to pull this off – the lovely Chloe of @storiesbychloe taking snaps all evening, and the awesome powerhouse that is Annie, founder of the Village Haberdashery co-hosting.
Behind every great woman there is … a whole bunch of other great women, mothers, sisters, friends and colleagues. Lots of my great women were there. (And my husband, who diligently brought all the cakes in a taxi after I had to dash ahead!)
I made a brief speech during which my hand, holding my phone, shook violently. I'm not usually a nervy public speaker but it just meant so much to me to finally be celebrating something I'd dreamed of for years that I went all wobbly! I should’ve taken more heed of the inspirational and motivational postcards I designed and printed for the event…
And finally a special mention has to go to Emily, Maid of Gingerbread, who brought along a golden gingerbread N just for me – such a treat!
